500cc's of Glory 30

We set out to race Round 1 of the Florida Gold Cup Series at Gatorback Cycle Park in Gainesville, FL on a 1994 CR500 in the +25 class. Ian bought the bike 2 weeks before off of craigslist, and got to ride the bike a total of 10 minutes before the big day. This is how the racing unfolded.

Anyone see the 2nd episode video? More "starting" issues. But the bike didn't break. And he did even better on it. And the legs are still not setup.

But the story ends there -- according to comments on the vid Ian sold (or is in the process of selling) the bike. Sad. I would have loved to have a whole season's worth of these David and Goliath videos (who Goliath is in this case remains a question).

I have to say this again.................NICE VIDEO!

Love me some 500 2 strokes, they're a great "Once-in-aWhile" bike to ride.......no way could I handle one of those as my primary bike.

That was a REALLY COOL video!!! Thanks for making it, I had th epleasure of watching it on my 55" TV and the quality was great. I have moto'd down on a CR500 so I know the feeling and you cannot replace it with anything because there is nothing like the life or near death experience of riding a 500 2 stroke at race speeds.True Moto good style, yea you could definitely tell the suspension was really SOFT. Bottoming hard w an older steel frame like that makes the bike bounce at weird angles when rebounding its nowhere near as predictable or stable from a hard landing like an aluminum perimeter frame is. Its one of the only attributes of an aluminium frame that I like......everything else I prefer a steel (Chromoly) frame.

Okay, I admit I laughed when I saw him trying to kick over the bike with the exhaust plug in. But yeah, that was a cool video.

Way cool! I raced one of those beasts back in the early 90's. I laughed when he said it wheelied three different times on the start. More ponies than a 450 thumper, narrower powerband and no engine braking... in fact just the opposite... once you get a 500 wound up it doesn't want to slow back down!
