After following the video series that had Derek and Tucker in it last year I whole heartedly agree, this kid DESERVES a ride. He is one of the few MXers who has his heart in it and does all he can to achieve good finishes. With a proper sponsored ride, good equipment, and good training he would be a very serious contender. My wife and I both loved that video series last year and we followed both him and Tucker all year... this kid is a real upstanding and respectable MXer. One of the few that puts a good name to the sport.

Derek is probably one of the most deserving privateers out on the circuit. He has proven that he can run with the big dogs based on last years performance. In my opinion, Kawi should drop Weimer. Now calm down, I know thats a brutal statement, but Weimer to me, just doesn't have the drive or head in the game as he used to in the 250 class. It would be neat to see Derek get a factory ride with Kawi and I bet he would make upper register of the top ten.

Are you retarded? This kid is hovering right outside the top 20...i admire this guy but he isn't on Weimers level

Of course he's not on Weimer's level. He doesn't have a factory ride, factory level personal trainers, factory test tracks, or any of the things he needs to be on "Weimer's" level. No privateer could make top five on a privateer ride. He finished in the top ten a few times last year during the nationals and that says a lot. I personally cannot stand Weimer's attitutde. he has an excuse for everything and acts like he is living in the shadow of his team mate RV. He needs to get over himself and lose the crappy attitude and maybe he might win some races. Weimer starts strong, but fades to maybe top ten. I say drop him and let someone else benefit from the fruits of the factory level that actually have a drive to win like Barcia, Tomac, RV, Millsaps, and Dungey.
