Pit Bits - Washougal

We've got some love for Washougal. This is where GuyB saw his first-ever MX race back in the early 70s. Back in the day, his uncle stopped and grabbed one of the roadside signs pointing the way to the track, and it hung for years in his bedroom. But yeah, this may be the most unusual Washougal sign we've ever seen. After we posted a photo of it on Instagram, one of the first comments was, "That sign is mine!" Sure enough, the next time we passed it, it was gone. Recreational cannabis may legal in Washington now, but it looks like they want to keep the family atmosphere at the track.

Would a little rain scare off Pacific Northwest race fans? Not likely.

We ran into Chuck Sun in the infield. His namesake jump may be gone, but he's always a part of the scene at Washougal.

Peterson Cat is the sponsor of the race, and they had a cool infield display.

Tommy Weeck had these graphics for the weekend. He's always a Washougal favorite.

You've likely heard about how the top layer at Washougal always looks good, but then there's a harder (and more slippery) layer underneath? Here's one of the better views we've had of that.

The trophies for this year's race were pretty cool, with custom-painted Troy Lee Designs helmets.

If we were Brian Barnes, we'd be cross-eyed by the end of the Washougal weekend, too. He's busy between announcing multiple events and keeping things hopping for the fans.
