If you notice, he's wearing a pair of new Gaerne SG12 boots. One of the features is a larger rubber contact patch on the inside where the boot meets the bike. All the riders I talked to who are using them mentioned that the bike is easier to grip...and a few of them had messed up side panel stickers.
