Product Spotlight: Mika Metals

Mika Metals set out with a few goals in mind. They wanted to release a handful of great products at reasonable prices, and they wanted them to have a different look than what's currently on the market. We think they succeeded.
Their handlebars are constructed from a high quality aerospace aluminum, ensuring high strength and fatigue life. We were also impressed by the durability of the finish on our test pair.
Mika Metals engineered the bars to "flex" ever so slightly, which is intended to reduce arm fatigue.
Precise tolerancing and exact manufacturing dimensions ensure the bars feel, perform, and mount like they were intended.
Handlebars are available in four different bends in both 7/8 and 1 1/8-inch sizes. The 7/8-inch models are $69.95, and the 1 1/8-inch go for $99.95.
Mika Metals told us that their aluminum rear sprockets were tested extensively by pros prior to production. Having shown very little wear after several rides, our tests confirmed that they are very durable. They are a competitive weight, too.
Self cleaning grooves on the sprocket help increase the useable lifespan, and the tooth design allows for increased power transfer when compared to some other options. Retail is $64.95.
If you're swapping sprockets, this is a worthy replacement. Mika's front sprockets are made of hardened steel and tests verified that the sprockets are made to rack up some serious hours. They ring up at $23.95.
The MX520R racing chain was designed to withstand professional racing. Black links and gold plated pins make this chain look great, and the plating also prevents corrosion and kinking. Friction between plates is reduced by the high quality bushings inside.
The chain held up in some pretty cruddy conditions and we had no complaints. They are available in 415, 420, 428, and 520 applications. Standard chains range from $39.95 to $89.95, and the top-of-the-line o-ring chain goes for $99.95.
Additional items are planned for later in the year, and we're excited to see what quality products Mika Metals will release next.
