Despite being down the time sheets after practice, and with a late gate pick, Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Mike Alessi was close to the holeshot in moto one. His attempt to race despite a surgically-repaired kneecap that was broken just before High Point lasted about half a lap. A tangle with Josh Grant put Mike down, and out of the series for the forseeable future. It was a gutsy attempt, but unfortunately it didn't end well. Credit: GuyB
