Maybe some of the best racing of the day was between Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammates Ben Townley and Ryan Villopoto, who passed each other repeatedly during the early stages. During that span they also worked their way past new MX2 World Champ, Christophe Pourcel, who'd started second, but crashed on the third lap.
