Zach Ames Runs At Front Of Main For MDK/Lucas Oil And WWR

March 26, 2007

Newbury Park, CA.  Wonder Warthog Racing/DeCal Works/P-LoK Hog Haven rider Zach Ames had a breakthrough ride at round 5 of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross East Lites Series, held Saturday night at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The young Ohioan showed some of the speed that he used earlier this year to place fifth in the Arenacross series.

Ames was on the gas and turning heads all night long.  After a great start in his heat race, he ran up front on his MDK Speed bike and looked to have second place sewed up until a couple of bobbles dropped him back to fifth.  Still, it was the best placement all year long by a Wonder Warthog Racing (WWR) team rider in a heat race.

Ames was determined to capitalize on the decent gate pick afforded him by his strong heat race finish and he did just that, holding his own among the top five for the first several laps of the main event.  On lap eight his quest for a top ten finish came to a halt when he crashed hard.  Despite the disappointment, Zach managed to salvage a single series point with an eventual 20th place finish, earning him the weekly “Barnett Clutch Performance” Award.  Antonio Balbi took home the “MB2 Raceway Wipeout” trophy after a hair-raising crash ruined an easy transfer position for him in his Supercross heat.

Seven riders qualified for the night program, including 5 from the DeCal Works/P-LoK Hog Haven.  Besides Ames and Balbi, Ted Campbell, Dave Ginolfi, and Geddy Karrle made the show, along with MDK/Lucas Oil/Yamaha riders Jacob Saylor and Kyle Tobin.

The next stop on the 2007 Hog Haven Tour will be Saturday, March 31st at Texas Stadium in Dallas.  Hog Haven apparel can be purchased at the LiveNation merchandise trailer in the pits or at www.SmoothIndustries.com. All WWR proceeds go towards funding their privateer support programs.  Drop in to visit the entire team at www.WonderWarthogRacing.com
