Your Chance to Support a Documentary on Marc Ristori

ERNEE (FRANCE), 6 June 2009 – Right after the qualifying for the French GP took place on the Ernee course, the media had the opportunity to meet up with former World Championship rider Marc Ristori who announced the making of a movie about his career suddenly stopped by a spinal cord injury.

8+2=82

A Midimages Productions, 8+2=82 is a special documentary on the life of Marc Ristori, the multiple Swiss Motocross Champion and former FIM Motocross World Championship rider, who severely injured during an indoor race in November 2007 remaining paraplegic.

This 90 minute movie will not be only about Marc’s path through pain and deception, it will also show his brave discovery of this new identity and the joy of being alive. Benjamin Tobler, the director of 8+2=82, decided to film this “second birth” (as Ristori refers to it) through a period of 18 months as the Ristori’s story features also the one of 11 year old Kilian Genoud, another rider whom Ristori met at the rehabilitation centre Suva Care at Sion. Also Genoud, a young motocrosser, injured and temporarily lost the use of his legs, though he managed to recover and return to racing.

With the sport of Motocross being another key theme in the movie, the title 8+2=82 comes from the new start number of Genoud. The youngster wanted to change his previous 2 into 8, imitating idol Ristori, but the number was already taken and he eventually decided to race on 82.

A trailer of the movie is available here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJHq7RB7X5c (only in French).
