Yoshimura Double Podiums in Salt Lake City

Chino, Calif. – May 3, 2010 –
The Supercross series went to Salt
Lake City, Utah, this weekend and Yoshimura took two spots on the
podium with impressive finishes by teammates Davi Millsaps and Andrew
Short. The rain came down just as the gate dropped for the main events,
and with rain earlier in the day, the track quickly became muddy and
sticky. That didn’t stop the power of the Yoshimura riders on Saturday
night, though, and with the fans cheering on Millsaps and Short, as
well as the newly crowned 2010 AMA/FIM Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey,
the Yoshimura riders put on a great display of racing talent with their
powerful bikes.

There
was only one practice for the riders in order to preserve the track,
and after several crashes in a particularly rough whoop section, the
whoops were rounded out to make it safer in the rain. Millsaps was
triumphant in his heat race, which is his seventh heat race win of the
season. Andrew Short took second place in the heat on his
Yoshimura-powered CFR450 and had the second fastest lap time of 48.667.
Ryan Dungey took fourth place in heat two on his RM-Z450, putting in
his fastest lap time of 49.536. Things looked good for Yoshimura racing
going into the main event.

As the night progressed, the track
got messy quickly as the rain came down, so the main event was cut from
20 to 15 laps due to the weather. Millsaps shot out of the gate almost
effortlessly thanks to his RS-4 powered CFR450, narrowly missing the
holeshot. He battled for half of the first lap, swapping first and
second place several times until he was cutoff in a turn. Millsaps
maintained second place for the entire race, bringing home a
spectacular podium finish for Yoshimura. Andrew Short has rebounded
nicely after being out for the majority of the season, and he moved his
way up from a seventh-place start and grabbed third place in lap 12 and
held onto it for the final podium spot. Ryan Dungey played it cool for
most of the race, riding carefully and calculated on the sloppy track.
After clinching the 2010 AMA/FIM Supercross Championship last weekend
in Seattle, Dungey wrangled in a fourth-place finish, leading to a
two-three-four finish for Yoshimura at Rice-Eccles stadium.

Racing
conditions seem to go from bad to worse on the Supercross circuit
lately but Yoshimura riders have come through week after week for a
successful 2010 season thanks to all the power they have on tap. The
2010 AMA/FIM Supercross series comes to a close next weekend, May 8, at
Las Vegas.

Davi Millsaps, despite a crash in practice, put on a great show in Salt Lake City.

Millsaps celebrated on the podium after earning second in the mud race.

As other racers struggled, Andrew short worked his way up to third place in an impressive show of racing talent.

Short finished in third place at Salt Lake City, a very strong showing for the rider who was injured for much of the season.

Ryan Dungey remained focused and finished a strong fourth in Salt Lake City.
