Tyler Bowers Sweeps Second Consecutive Weekend at AMA Arenacross from Hampton

Cory Green Wins First AMA Arenacross Lites Race of 2010

HAMPTON, Va. (January 23, 2010) – After three rounds of the 2010 AMA Arenacross Series, Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLube Kawasaki’s Tyler Bowers, of Danville, Ky., has made it clear that he is determined to win his first career AMA national title. On Saturday, Bowers grabbed his fifth straight AMA Arenacross class victory, sweeping the weekend’s Hampton Arenacross from the Hampton Coliseum. Reynard Mods Kawasaki’s Cory Green, of Nowata, Okla., won the AMA Arenacross Lites Eastern Regional Championship main event.

Tuf Honda’s Brock Sellards, of Sherodsville, Ohio, grabbed the holeshot in the premier AMA Arenacross class 25-lap main event for the second night in a row. Like the night before, the veteran rider held on to the top spot for the first few laps until Bowers made his move and went on to dominate the rest of the race. Last weekend, Bowers swept both nights of the Baltimore Arenacross and continues to extend his early-season points lead. Bowers’ win led the way to a Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLube Kawasaki sweep of the podium as Chad Johnson, of Rhinelander, Wis., and Josh Demuth, of North Richland Hills, Texas, finished second and third, respectively.

In a guest appearance in the AMA Arenacross Lites class on Saturday night, Green took advantage of his premier class experience to take the win in convincing fashion. The win was his first of the 2010 season. Fellow AMA Arenacross Series veteran Jim Neese, of Julian, N.C., grabbed the runner-up spot while GPF/Babbitt’s Kawasaki’s A.J. Catanzaro, of Middlefield, Conn., rounded out the podium in third.

Bowers leads the AMA Arenacross class standings by 24 points over teammate Johnson, the only other winner in 2010 while Virginia Beach native Devon Pilkington grabbed a tie for the AMA Arenacross Lites Eastern Regional points lead in front of his hometown crowd, sharing the top spot with Foremost Insurance Yamaha’s Tyler Bright, of Lexington, N.C.

The AMA Arenacross Series continues next weekend from Kansas City, Miss. and Kemper Arena next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT.
