X Games 17 - Los Angeles, CA

The 17th running of the Summer X Games has come to an end and Troy Lee
Designs riders took home some hardware from the Staples Center.

Ronnie Renner
was the first rider to compete, giving his all in Moto X Step-Up.
Renner was on his game but he couldn’t top Matt Buyton, who set a new
world record for height at this year’s event. Renner took the silver
medal and immediately began setting his sights on 2012.

“I’m stoked for Matt but I really wanted this one,” said Renner
afterwards. “To beat the standing world record and still not win the
gold is a little frustrating, but that’s what it’s all about, I guess.
We come here each year to progress and push that bar higher, literally.
Next year I’m going after that gold.”

Tarah Gieger
took home two silver medals from the Staples Center. Her first came in
Women’s Moto X where she had a good start and followed Vicky Golden in
for a second place finish. The second medal came in Women’s Enduro X, a
new event at X Games. This one was wild and it didn’t start out the way
Tarah had hoped. After getting a good jump off the gate, Tarah got
pinched off going into the downhill first turn and crashed into the
corner marker. She would get up and mount a steady charge, avoiding the
carnage along the way, to score her second silver medal of the weekend.

“I didn’t know what to expect with Enduro X so I’m happy with a silver,”
said Tarah. “The Moto X event is a little disappointing for me because I
felt like I should have won. With Jessica and Ashley out I had a great
opportunity to get my second gold medal in that event and I just didn’t
make it happen. Vicki rode great though and I’m happy for her. It was a
fun weekend for sure.”

Also adding to the TLD medal tally was Dany Torres,
who scored a bronze medal in the Moto X Freestyle competition. Dany is a
fierce competitor and always a threat to win at big events like the X
Games.

Troy Lee Designs would like to congratulate all the TLD athletes who
