Troy Lee Designs Welcomes Tarah Gieger to the TLD Family

Troy Lee Designs is launching its completely new line of women’s riding apparel with the help of one of the most colorful riders on the WMA tour, Tarah Gieger. Tarah is an X Games gold medalist and a three-time champion at Loretta Lynn’s. This girl has come a long way since she was a kid growing up in Puerto Rico . At one point she nearly gave up riding to become a pro surfer. Thankfully for us she stayed on the throttle. Now the 23 year-old who resides in Orlando is one of the most prominent female riders in motocross.

This season hasn’t been that great for Tarah, but her attitude hasn’t changed.

“This season has definitely been a struggle for me,” explains Tarah. “I was doing everything I could to be ready for the season here and I crashed at a GP in Portugal and broke the radius in my right arm. It was pretty bad and I’ve had to do a bunch of therapy on it to get it where it needs to be. I’ve been on the bike about ten times now before X Games and it keeps getting better and better. I’m ready to go racing.”

Tarah is stoked to be joining the Troy Lee Designs team.

“The TLD gear is awesome. It is honestly the best-fitting gear I’ve ever worn. You can really tell that it was designed for a girl and not just cheap guys gear with some flowers on it. I love that the TLD crew is excited about women’s racing as well. Obviously I want to be involved with a team that supports our racing and TLD does that; they want to see it grow.”

It’s hard to imagine just how gritty this girl is. Even with a scarred right arm and limited time on the bike, she still believes she can win.

“My goal at X Games is to win gold. I don’t really know where I stand with the other girls but I’m going in with the attitude that I can win again. Either way, once this race is behind me I’m going to get to work for the last two WMA rounds this summer. I’m going to Steel City and Southwick to put it on them.”
