Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM’s Photo Recap and Race Highlights from First Three Rounds

Corona, Calif. (June 2, 2015) – The first three rounds of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship are in the books and Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM’s Jessy Nelson, Shane McElrath, and Mitchell Oldenburg have all raced to memorable moments. With three races complete, it’s the perfect time to recap some of the highlights as the team readies for the next race at Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tennessee.

Jessy Nelson
The opening round at the Hangtown MX Classic was Nelson’s first race since lining up for a supercross in early February, following an injury during practice in early April. He was still getting back up to pace and fitness, but it wasn’t going to take him long to prove he belonged at the front.
During the next race at Glen Helen Raceway, Nelson rocketed his KTM 250 SX-F to the Motosport.com Holeshot Award. Following the holeshot, Nelson led six laps. His effort in Southern California eventually ushered him to his first podium of the season with third overall.
Nelson’s trip to the podium at Glen Helen Raceway was the second in his career. His previous podium finish was at Ironman Raceway at the end of the 2014 season.

Shane McElrath
McElrath came off a stellar supercross season, looking to transfer that speed to the outdoors. He’s steadily adjusting to the differences in style, quickly finding his way into the top-10 after the first round.

Once McElrath got to Glen Helen, he was ready to make his way to the front of the pack. He scored a career-best of sixth overall, including his first trip to the podium in Moto 2 after finishing third.

Mitchell Oldenburg
Just a week before the season started, Oldenburg was confirmed to ride in the place of injured rider Darryn Durham. Despite the short turn around to get comfortable on the new bike, Oldenburg still posted results inside the top-20.
By Round 2, Oldenburg displayed confidence and comfort, showing it by earning a career-best finish of 12th overall. He even broke into the top-10 during Moto 2, scoring ninth.
Oldenburg is looking to make his return to Muddy Creek a successful one, trying to best his previous result of 18th overall. With already a great start to the season, we’re pretty sure Oldenburg won’t give up until he has the best season of his career.

Extra Bits
Nelson gets loose before jumping on his Specialized bike to warm up at the start of the day.
