Toyota to Sponsor Amateur Arenacross World Finals in Las Vegas

AURORA, Ill. (August 22, 2006) – The Amateur Arenacross World Finals announced today that Toyota has agreed to become title sponsor of the seventh-annual event inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena Sunday, October 15. The Toyota Amateur Arenacross World Finals runs in conjunction with the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open.

During the 2005-2006 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series the nation’s top amateurs contend in their respective arenacross regions for a spot to compete in the Toyota Amateur Arenacross World Finals. Divided into six regions across the U.S., race officials will advance the top three finishing riders in points to Las Vegas. This year a record 306 of the top amateur racers will make their way to the MGM Grand Garden Arena and compete for the coveted Toyota Amateur Arenacross World Finals championship, making this year’s Toyota Amateur Arenacross World Finals the largest in its history.

“Toyota has been instrumental in supporting our sport from the top level professionals to the hard-working amateurs, and we are proud to have them involved in this year’s race,” said Todd Jendro, senior director of operations, Live Nation.

Over the years, the Toyota Amateur Arenacross World Finals has grown substantially, and the addition of Toyota’s support, makes it one of the most prestigious events for amateur racers on the planet.

“This is another great opportunity for Toyota to show its support for motocross. By sponsoring both the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series and the Toyota Amateur Arenacross World Finals, we’re trying to help grow the sport at both the pro and amateur levels.” said Doug Frisbie, Engagement Marketing Manager, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

Last year the Amateur World Finals featured the top 18 female racers from the Woman’s Motocross League (WML), and once again they will be an important feature to this year’s bill. In addition to the top female racers competing in this event, several top professional racers, such as Thomas Hahn and Jake Weimer, have graduated from the Toyota Amateur Arenacross World Finals program to compete at the professional level.
