Press Release

Tortelli & Lackey to be Honored at Anaheim SX

January 4, 2012 ~ Merced, CA:
Two-Time World Motocross Champion, Sebastien Tortelli,
will be honored this Saturday at the opening round of the 2012 Monster
Energy AMA Supercross series this weekend at the Angel Stadium in
Anaheim California.

Tortelli, a two-time World Champion motocross racer, a longtime factory
sponsored rider, has been a top ranked rider in both AMA National and
Supercross competition, as well as the European-based Motocross Grand
Prix World Championships.

This
contemporary champ won the 1996 125cc FIM World Motocross Championship
and, to this date and to his credit, is still the youngest World
Champion.  In 1998 during an epic season-long battle, Tortelli and
Everts (most crowned world champion of all time) traded the points lead
multiple times, with one rider typically finishing just ahead of the
other.  The title fight went down to the final round, last race of the
Greece GP, and it was Tortelli who shouldered the pressure, won the race
and claimed the 1998 250cc World Championship.

“Sebastien Tortelli was a 125 World Champion, but not well known by
American race fans.  When he showed up for a one-time appearance at the
LA Coliseum Supercross in 1998, it seemed unlikely that he would even
make the main event.  I'll never forget his charge to the front on a
rain-soaked LA track, passing the established stars who were floundering
like 125 novices, to win his first race in America.  After that, fans
knew who Tortelli was!”  says Tom White of the Early days of Motocross
Museum.

"I am glad to be a part of this.  Sebastien is one of the nicest guys
you will meet in motocross” Professor Gary Bailey states.  “I have been
here since his first SX win at the LA Coliseum and I got his winning
jersey (that was cool).  Little did I know that I would get the
opportunity to work with Sebastien when he came to race here full time,
and that I would be with him when he won his first AMA National and get
that jersey. As time went on, I got another win jersey, plus I was lucky
enough to be in Paris when he announced his retirement.  I have that
jersey as well. I like this guy and what he has done.  I am happy to be a
part of this presentation" Bailey concludes.  Today Sebastien continues
to work within the industry with this Champfactory motocross schools
and is a Member of the JT Racing Champions hall of fame.

Joining Tortelli on the stage will be 1972 National AMA 500cc Champion and 1982 FIM World Champion, Brad Lackey.  Mr. Lackey will be the recipient of the “Legends & Heroes Tour 40-30 Award”
on Saturday evening. This award recognizes the 40 year anniversary when
Lackey was crowned the first AMA 500cc National Champion in 1972 and
being the first American to win the FIM 500cc World Championship 10
years later in 1982, marking his 30th anniversary for that historic accomplishment.

Alex Moroz and Mike Owens, managing partners of the Legends &
Heroes Tour, state “The MX files of Sebastien Tortelli and Brad Lackey
are very similar as both of their respected championships were decided
at the last round, and last race of their competitive seasons with both
riders going head to head into the last set of motos to decide their
World Championship Wins”.

Both Tortelli and Lackey will
be at the Legends & Heroes Tour Moto Museum located in the pits at
A1 for a “Meet & Greet” with the fans from 3-4pm on Saturday.  You
don’t want to miss this one…
