“When I got the news from my friends the Riesenbergs that they were
starting a Walk Now for Autism Speaks team in support of their oldest
son, Elijah, who was recently diagnosed with Autism, I knew I had to
help. Given the close knit nature of our sport, it only took a few
calls and I had great support from fellow riders to contribute to this
cause,” commented Matt Buyten, who gathered support from the riders to
contribute.

“I look forward to furthering the cause of Autism Speaks and seeing the
progress firsthand with Elijah. I know that his diagnosis won’t hold
him back from the heights he will fly in the future, and I look forward
to seeing him share the course with the great riders that are
supporting our cause,” said Jeremy Riesenberg, father of Elijah. “My
wife and I started ERAAAP as soon as we received Elijah’s diagnosis. As
Autism Speaks says, ‘Everyone wants to be heard’, and we are committed
to the cause and hope to make a difference not only with our son
Elijah, but in conjunction with the millions of parents worldwide
affected by Autism. Together, we really can make a difference and
ensure every child, parent, family member, and caregiver has the
opportunity to be heard. It all starts June 19th at the Iowa Walk Now
for Autism Speaks.”
