Press Release

Thor’s Villopoto and Russell Big Winners at Supercross and GNCC

Thor
riders were out in impressive style over the weekend with big wins at
both the AMA Supercross Series and Grand National Cross Country Series.
Starting the weekend off, the AMA Supercross Series headed back indoors
to the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The slippery course
didn’t seem to be a match for Thor’s Ryan Villopoto, who made his way
through the pack over the 20-lap main event to capture his sixth win of
the season and extend his lead in the championship to 54 points.

Putting in his best ride of the
season, Brett Metcalfe earned his first heat-race win of the year and
then backed it up with a strong fourth-place finish in the main event.
Broc Tickle started to find his rhythm, posting his second-straight
eighth-place finish.

In the Supercross Lites class,
riders were forced to perform a staggered re-start after a red flag on
the fifth lap didn’t qualify the race to give a full restart. Thor’s
Darryn Durham lined up fourth on the restart and was able to push his
way up to second, earning his third podium finish of the season. Blake
Baggett also rode hard and finished just off the podium in fourth.

Another big winner over the weekend
was Thor’s Kailub Russell, who earned his first GNCC win of the season.
Russell had to hold off fellow Thor rider Charlie Mullins who finished
less than a minute behind. Cory Buttrick also wasn’t far behind,
finished sixth. In the Women’s class, Maria Forsberg earned her second
win of the season in dominating fashion, coming across the finish line
almost five minutes ahead of second.

At the AMA Thor Spring Classic in
Alabama, Thor amateur riders were showing speed, even when faced with
tough conditions from hard rains that passed through the area. In total,
Thor riders Jordan Bailey, Justin Hill, Joron Smith, and Max Tannenbaum
captured six championships, along with an additional 10 overall podium
finishes throughout the week.
