Thor’s Robert Inches Closer to WORCS Title with Pala Sweep


Thor’s Taylor Robert claimed his fifth victory of the season in dominating fashion with a perfect 1-1 sweep at the inaugural event at Pala Raceway just north of San Diego, Calif. His consistency over the course of eight rounds has helped Robert maintain the lead in the championship where he now sits 55 points ahead of second with an opportunity to clinch the championship at the next round, taking place at Cahuilla Creek MX in Anza, Calif.

At the seventh round of the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship Series in Millville, Minn., it was another successful day for the Thor MX riders. For the second weekend in a row, Thor placed four riders in the top -10 in the 450 class, with Jake Weimer claiming another podium finish in third with a 2-3. Broc Tickle overcame a crash in the opening moto to finish sixth overall with a 12-5, while privateer Cole Thompson put in another solid effort in eighth with a 15-7. Tyla Rattray started the day with a sixth in Moto 1, but had to come from the back in the second moto to finish with a 6-28 for ninth overall. Mike Brown had a better weekend at Millville, posting two points-scoring motos with an 18-12 moto result for 15th overall.

The day started out great for Blake Baggett, who grabbed his seventh moto win of the season in the 250 class. The second moto was going his way after a good start put him in position for the lead. Shortly after moving into the lead, Baggett went down, but didn’t give up and worked his way back up to fourth to capture third overall. Despite his moto score, he only lost one point in the championship standings. Baggett currently sits 18 points ahead of second place.

At the 10th round of the FIM MX World Championship in Kegums, Latvia, Thor’s Joel Roelants claimed his first ever GP overall victory with a 1-2 moto finish in the MX2 class. While Roelants was celebrating his first victory, Thor’s Tommy Searle faced a bike issues in each moto, forcing him to go scoreless at the Latvia GP. In the MX1 class, Gautier Paulin tackled the tough, rainy conditions to score fifth overall with a 4-6, while Xavier Boog rounded out the top-10 with an 11-9.
