San Bernardino, Calif. - May 12, 2011 - Glen
Helen Raceway is abuzz preparing for this weekend's Round 3 of the FIM
World Motocross Championship. From the pits to the track, trucks are
humming, tents are being raised, and the Monster Energy Stage is ready
to entertain. The tireless crew at Glen Helen has been working nonstop
to prep the dirt on the track, alter the course, and get ready for four
days of the best racing to hit U.S. soil this year. Right out of the
gate, Talladega looks incredible--wider than usual and climbing up the
hill. One of the steepest climbs and descents in motocross, Mt. St.
Helen is sure to give the international field a challenge. Everything
on the track has been tweaked to showcase the best of competition, the
best of the international talent, and the best of Glen Helen Raceway.
Steven
Frossard leads the pack in the MX1 thanks to his consistent performance
over the first two rounds. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider finished
second in Bulgaria and fourth in the Netherlands and is looking to
secure his first Grand Prix victory at Glen Helen. He'll have to
contend with last year's USGP winner Antonio Cairoli, however, as the
Italian champion looks to defend his 2010 victory and regain the top
spot in the World MX1 standings. Cairoli is fourth overall despite
experiencing injury-related setbacks in Round 1.
TLD/Lucas
Oil/Honda Team's Christian Craig will be leading a fleet of American
privateers in the MX1 class in an attempt to defend their home turf and
battle for the prestigious Marty Moates award. The Moates Cup, along
with a $5,000 prize courtesy of Lucas Oil, will go to the top American
at the 2011 Monster Energy Grand Prix of the United States. Last year's
Moates Cup winner was the young Zach Osborne, who will be competing in
the MX2 class along with TLD/Lucas Oil/Honda's Travis Baker.
Osborne
and Baker will have to deal with the German phenom Ken Roczen and the
reigning MX2 champion Marvin Musquin. Roczen and Musquin are long-time
rivals, and are both popular in Europe and in the states. Musquin is
the defending champ of the Grand Prix of the United States, and is
making his first appearance in the 2011 World MX2 Championship after
returning from an injury. Ken Roczen is the current series leader, and
was recently named the Rising Star of the 2011 AMA Supercross Season.
The
FIM Veteran Motocross World Cup United States, which is the second
round of the Veteran Motocross World Cup, will also take place Saturday
and Sunday. After Saturday's practice sessions the biggest names in
Veteran Motocross will take the stage for the first of two motos.
Sunday's Grand Prix action will be prefaced by the second moto of the
VMX, after which the top three vets will take to the podium for the
awards ceremony. Last year's VMX champ Doug Dubach took to the track
yesterday for some testing, along with MX1 entrant Dennis Stapleton and
WORCS MX leader Bobby Garrison. Dubach is looking to repeat last year's
performance this weekend as one of the eight Americans attempting to
defend their home turf against the 18 other riders from 10 different
countries.

Sunday-only tickets cost $50 for adults and $25 for children ages 6-12
(children under 6 are free). Adult Weekend Passes (Thursday-Sunday) are
