The 2nd Annual Freeze X Fest hosts the AMA Racing Ice Race Grand Championship

Mount Pleasant, MI – Returning to the Midwest’s largest casino and resort for the second year in a row, the Freeze X Fest will host the 2010 AMA Racing Ice Race Grand Championship on January 23-24 at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

Undoubtedly the largest ice racing event of the year, the Ice Race Grand Championship is returning to the Freeze X Fest after a very successful 2009 event. Top amateur and aspiring pro ice racers will travel from all over the country in order to compete at this year’s prestigious AMA Racing event.

“The racers and their families were extremely pleased with their experience at Soaring Eagle last year, so having the Freeze X Fest host the AMA Racing Ice Race Grand Championship for 2010 was an easy decision”, said AMA Director of Racing Joe Bromley.

Similar to last year’s event, the Freeze X Fest will run nearly 30 classes to accommodate all ages and skill levels. Moreover, with the help of Soaring Eagle and long-time ice race supporter Tom McKittrick of Kold Kutter Ice Racing Screws, a $10,000 cash purse and hundreds of other prizes will be awarded to the ice racers throughout the weekend.

Expected to return to the Freeze X Fest this year to defend their titles and get another shot at the lion’s share of the $10,000 purse, includes AMA Racing Ice Race Grand Championship front-runners Bryan Bigelow, Jared Mees, and Bryan Smith.

“Last year’s racing was intense to say the least”, recalls Freeze X Fest promoter Pat Grzebinski. He continued to say, “Everyone was hauling, which made it great for all the fans, and a well-deserved cash prize for the winners.”

Aside from the ice racing, Soaring Eagle and the Freeze X Fest will be hosting an eclectic mix of winter action sports events and activities. Freestyle snocross rider Jimmy Blaze and his crew of high-flying daredevils will be on hand to showcase their laundry list of tricks (and flips) as they jump their 500lb snowmobiles nearly 40 feet in the air.

Yamaha will also be at the Freeze X Fest for the “Yamafest” Demo Days with their full line of 2010 fuel-injected, four-stroke snowmobiles for anyone to ride (must be at least 16 years old).

Also, new for this year the Freeze X Fest will be hosting a never-before-seen aerial showdown of snowboard and freestyle snocross competitors going head-to-head on two huge snow doubles, smack dab in the middle of the Freeze X Fest event grounds! Fans will watch these two groups of athletes going trick for trick, in a fight to see who can go the biggest for the Freeze X Fest crowd. The winner will be crowned the Otsego Snow Slam Champ.
