The 11th GP of the season takes place in Lommel this weekend

LOMMEL
(Belgium), 28 July 2011 – After a week’s break in the FIM Motocross
World Championship, everything is ready to celebrate the 11th Grand Prix
of the season in the deep sand track of Lommel. During the Grand Prix
of Limburg it will also take place the penultimate round of the UEM EMX2
series and the fourth round of the FIM Veterans World Cup.

Antonio
Cairoli keeps on leading the MX1 point standings from the likes of
Clement Desalle, but the Belgian rides home this weekend and he will be
extra motivated to conquer the GP of Limburg. Besides, It is also a very
good opportunity for Desalle’s teammate Steve Ramon and his compatriot
Ken De Dycker to fight for the top positions of the GP.


In the MX2 class Jeffrey Herlings is looking forward to racing against
his teammate Ken Roczen this weekend and prove once more that the Dutch
is the best rider on the sand and get closer to the leader of the
series.

MX1
Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing
MX1’s Cairoli has always admitted that the GP of Limburg is like his
second home event, as he is based in Belgium during the offseason. The
Italian won last year in Lommel and at the beginning of this season he
obtained his first GP victory in the sandy track of Valkenswaard, so
there is no doubt that Cairoli comes to Lommel to win and increase his
leadership in the point standings.


Home rider Desalle arrives in Lommel not being fully fit from the
several injuries he suffered in the last few weeks. The Rockstar Energy
Suzuki World MX1 rider confessed that it is going to be a tough weekend
for him, but he will do his best to repeat his last year’s third overall
position or even fight for the victory. Desalle is still second in the
championship, 42 points behind Cairoli.


The third position of the FIM MX1 World Championship is for Monster
Energy Yamaha’s Frossard. The French has always struggled in the sand,
but in Valkenswaard, earlier in the season, he missed the podium being
tight in points with Philippaerts and there he obtained his maiden red
plate in the MX1 championship. Frossard is feeling better and better
every GP, so he might be able to fight for the top step of the rostrum
this weekend.


Honda World Motocross’ Bobryshev confessed that Lommel is not one of his
favourite tracks. However, the Russian rider, who is fourth in the
championship, might surprise us all again and fight for the top
positions of the race.


Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Nagl completes the top five,
being 23 points behind Bobryshev. The German has always admitted that
since he is riding the 350cc is feeling more confident riding on the
sand that on hard pack tracks, so Lommel might be his comeback to the
podium after his last appearance during the Monster Energy GP of the
USA.


Christophe Pourcel is back in the entry list of the FIM MX1 World
Championship, so the French will have a second chance to prove his
talent against the likes of the above mentioned riders.

MX2
Red
Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Roczen seems to be the clear
favourite to win the FIM MX2 World Title, but the young talented rider
knows that anything may happen, especially in GP like the one of
Limburg, where his teammate Herlings is the specialist. However, last
year Roczen went out with the overall victory thanks to his 1-2 result,
so he is also very confident about this weekend.


Herlings is still second in the point standings, 27 points behind
Roczen, and he knows that he has all in favour to win the GP of Limburg
and obtain some valuable points for the chase of the Title. Last year,
the Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2 rider won the second heat in
Lommel, but he missed the first step of the rostrum due to his third
position in the first heat.


CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Searle keeps the third
position of the FIM MX2 World Championship even having had two DNF in
the previous GP. The British rider is always on the podium unless he
undergoes a major problem which makes him pull out from the race, so
Searle is committed to give his best and fight for the top three
positions in Lommel this weekend.


Monster Energy Yamaha’s Paulin comes to Lommel after not having had an
outstanding weekend in Latvia, where he crashed and injured his
shoulder. The GP of Limburg is one of the most demanding tracks in the
calendar, so we will have to see if Paulin is at his 100% of
possibilities to keep his fourth position in the Championship.


Completing the top five is Bike-it Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha’s Osborne,
who has obtained two consistent results in the last two GP of the
season. There are still five more Grand Prix to go, including this
weekend’s, for Osborn to fight again for the top three positions and
improve his fifth place in the Championship.


Belgian rider Van Horebeek has had some time off the bike to heal his
injuries suffered in Teutschenthal and he is now ready to give his best
at his home Grand Prix. However, Van Horebeek has always admitted that
he is not a sand specialist, as most of his compatriots are.

EMX2
The
UEM EMX2 Championship is getting to its end, but there is no clear
favourite in the series yet. There have been four different overall
round winners and four different red plate holders throughout the five
events celebrated so far. All the riders have been touched by injuries
or misfortunes, so the Belgian round will be crucial for the chase of
the Title.


Romain Febvre regained the red plate of the UEM EMX2 Championship thanks
to the third overall position he obtained in Latvia. Charles Lefrançois
was only 10th in Kegums and he dropped one position in the championship
and he is now second, 12 points behind Febvre. His compatriot Dylan
Ferrandis, who dominated with superb authority the Spanish and
Portuguese rounds, could not take part in the Latvian round because he
injured his arm in Teutschenthal during one of the practice sessions of
the MX2 class. However, Ferrandis is still third in the point standings,
38 points behind the leader, so he has still some chances to obtain the
UEM EMX2 Title.

VETERANS
In the FIM
Veterans World Cup there has been a clear dominant, Mats Nilsson, but
the riders fighting for the second, third and fourth positions of the
championship are closer than ever. Pascal Bal, Alfredo Camps and Roger
Jakobsson are all tight in 71 points.
