Team San Manuel Yamaha's Chad Reed Fueled By Fusion Energy Takes Second In Houston

Round 7 - Houston, Tx - Reliant Stadium - February 16th

ANAHEIM, CA (February 18, 2008) - Outside, a torrential downpour and winds that hit 80 mph at times, did not keep close to 50,000 Houston fans from attending round seven of the 2008 AMA Supercross Series. Team San Manuel's Chad Reed took a second place podium spot and teammate Nathan Ramsey had his season's best finish taking sixth place in the main event.

Reed won his heat race, with a 54.3 lap time, for the direct transfer to the main and Ramsey qualified for a direct transfer as well with a fourth place finish in the heat.

In the main event, series points leader Reed found himself mid-pack at turn one and by the end of lap two he managed to pass both Ferry and Ramsey in the same corner, then triple through a rhythm section, a move only few riders were able to execute all evening. This strategic move put Reed into fourth where he then made his way up to second with a block pass on lap nine. After the pass, on lap 11, Reed moved into second place, where he would remain till the chequered flag. Reed still maintains the overall championship points lead, with 169 points.

Ramsey ran most of the race mid-pack, among the top 10 finishers, taking a well-earned sixth place finish.

“This is a tough pill to swallow,” said Reed. “I gave it everything I had tonight, but Kevin (Windham) rode a great race. We have had a good season, and we will have to put it together in Atlanta next weekend.”

Television programming note: the AMA Supercross class race airs on CBS Sports Sunday, February 17 at Noon EST and 9:00 AM PST.

The AMA Supercross series continues east with Round 8 taking place at Atlanta's Georgia Dome on February 23rd.
