Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing Finishes Out its First AMA Supercross Season at Jacksonville

True privateer team made its presence felt among the fans
and the industry during first Supercross season

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (April 7, 2009) – At the final round of the Eastern Region portion of the AMA Supercross series at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing continued to be a fan draw in the pits as people flocked to meet the DNA Energy Drink girls. While the results on the track in the Lites Class were not what the team hoped for at the final round, it’s satisfied with the success during its inaugural year in AMA Supercross.

With primary support from DNA Energy Drink, Shea Racing set to compete against factory-supported and highly-funded independent teams. Based on its resources, the team did quite well as both riders made all eight night programs—Teddy Parks made four Lites main events in his rookie season. The team provided significant exposure for sponsors off-the-track as the DNA Energy Drink girls helped to draw long lines to get photos. Both riders were approachable to fans which also ended up creating lines for their autographs.

In Jacksonville, Florida’s Lieber and Texas’ Parks qualified for the night program during the 250cc Lites Class timed practice. Both riders were in the second heat race where Parks finished 14th and Lieber notched 17th. They were unable to make it to the main out of the LCQ.

“We hoped to do better at the final round and it just wasn’t in the cards Saturday,” said Tim Shea, team manager. “This season was a test run and we really beat our expectations in many ways. Augie and Teddy always put in their best, and their friends and family were there to help the team out too. Thanks to DNA Energy Drink, Fly Racing, PowerBar, ProTaper, Vortex Sprockets, Maxima Oils, and our other sponsors for stepping in to help this season.”

Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing plans to compete at the Freestone Raceway (Texas) round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship on June 6.
