Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing Continues to Beat the Odds as an Independent Program in Supercross

Teddy Parks earns 15th place in the 250cc Lites Main for a second time

NEW ORLEANS (March 16, 2009) – Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing continues to make its presence known in AMA Supercross after all three riders made the night program at the New Orleans, Louisiana round this past Saturday, March 14. Augie Lieber, Teddy Parks and Steve Roman qualified during the afternoon session with Parks making it all the way to the 250cc Lites Class main event to earn a 15th place. This is not a small feat for a new privately-funded team with no manufacturer support.

The three team riders qualified in the top 35 during the afternoon practice sessions. Leading into the evening program at the Louisiana Superdome, the DNA Energy Drink-branded riders were ready for battle. During the first heat race, Pennsylvania’s Roman was on deck for the team. He ended up finishing 16th. The second heat race saw both Florida’s Lieber and Parks from Texas on the grid. Parks ran a well-fought race, finishing ninth to transfer directly to the main. Lieber battled to an 11th place finish, just two spots shy of automatic transfer. This put both Lieber and Roman in the LCQ. Competing against a few factory-supported riders who didn’t make it out of the heat races as well, Roman and Lieber put in a valiant effort finishing seventh and eighth, respectively, which did not get them into the main.

Parks was ready for his third Lites main event. His first was the Houston round which was his first-ever Supercross and where he also finished 15th. Parks got a good start and stayed upright through the first turn. He rode his Suzuki RM-Z250 consistently during the 15-lap main to finish in a very respectable 15th place. As a result he sits in 22nd place in the series standings.

“We were able to get our guys into the night program which is always our first priority,” said team manager Tim Shea. “We are missing a little of this and some of that to get Augie and Steve into the main event. They were both closer than they have been in previous rounds. I continue to be impressed with Teddy and he has even more potential.”

The next stop for Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing will be the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, March 21 for round six of the AMA Supercross East Region Lites series.
