Strong Start to Loretta Lynn’s for Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green

Irvine, Calif. (July 31, 2012) – Day one of the 2012 Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships is a wrap from Hurricane Mills, Tenn., and Kawasaki riders littered the podium all day long. Kawasaki Team Green riders earned a total of 18 podiums including three wins. Team Green’s early success sets the stage for Kawasaki riders to add their names to the long list of championships by the end of competition Saturday. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green’s Adam Cianciarulo and Garrett Marchbanks both took the first moto wins in Supermini 1 and 85 9-11 Stock, respectively. Team Green rider Gary Semics also took a first moto win in the Master 50+ class aboard his KX™450F.

Starting Off on the Right Foot

One of the standout rides of the day came from Team Green’s Marchbanks. One of the few to have completed two motos in the first day, he rode his KX™85 flawlessly to score two podium finishes. Marchbanks started the day with a strong second-place finish in the 85 9-11 Mod class after leading a good portion of the race. He was fired up after that moto and came out swinging in the 85 9-11 Stock class. Another battle ensued for the lead, but this time Marchbanks came out on top with the moto win. With each class being a three-moto format, he is in good position to end the week on top of the podium.

“Garrett had a great day today and I was really happy with how he rode,” said Team Supervisor Ryan Holliday. “He had great starts and was aggressive all moto long which is what it takes to win championships here at Loretta’s.”

Welcome to Greenville

Since the first AMA Amateur National Championship event at Loretta Lynn’s more than 30 years ago, Kawasaki Team Green has been a key part of the event. The event at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch has grown enormously over the past three decades, as has Team Green’s presence, which has become known as Greenville. Situated directly behind the starting gate, Greenville provides racers access to Team Green technicians for trackside support, Kawasaki Genuine Parts for last-minute repairs, an air-conditioned Monster Energy Lounge and a Traxxas Try-Me track. Outside Greenville, the event also hosts several fun activities throughout the week including Team Green’s family dinner on Wednesday, Karaoke night on Thursday and a talent show on Friday night.
