Star Racing/Lucas Oil/Yamaha Indy SX Race Report

3/24/07

Round twelve of the AMA Supercross Series went off with a bang in Indianapolis, Indiana this past Saturday night. Both classes had their exciting moments on and off the track. Star Racing/Lucas Oil/Yamaha didn’t get into all the commotion, but the team did see their rookie rider Broc Tickle come from behind to post one of his better finishes to date.

Slated into heat one, Tickle started very poorly making the job ahead to qualify difficult. However, the 17-year old found a pace only the eventual winner had, which in six quick laps allowed Broc to dart forward finding 7th, and more importantly avoiding the LCQ.

The 15 lap main event took off, and once again Tickle was deep in the field, 14th at the end of lap one. For the first half of the race our Yamaha pilot moved in a good direction, reaching 8th. Nevertheless, for the final laps, two different battles stopped any progression and on the white flag lap, an altercation went down. Tickle was put on the dirt, as well as the rider who made the aggressive pass. Luckily his bike kept running, he was able to remount only losing a position, finishing 10th.

With two rounds left in the East coast Lites series, Broc sits 13th in points and still has a promising chance of a top ten overall.
