Star Racing/Lucas Oil/Yamaha Anaheim 2 Race Recap

The AMA Supercross series migrated back into the hot bed of racing this past Saturday; where Anaheim stadium hosted round three with a more than challenging track, which provided for great action. Star Racing/Lucas Oil/Yamaha’s Matt Lemoine, and Dusty Klatt are progressing each week considerably and the entire sport is really taking notice to our ever-evolving program.

Heat one had Canadian Dusty Klatt, slow out of the gate in the early laps with some serious work in front of him to make sure he netted a transfer position. The consistent, steady riding of Klatt saw him take his Yamaha through the field reaching 7th. Heat two brought the new young star Matt Lemoine, who also slacked when jumping out of the start, however quickly he made some moves forward reaching 6th at one point. One bobble in the closing stages cost the 17-year-old two spots, dropping him to 8th though still qualifying.

When the green flag flew at the end of the first lap in the main event, once again neither rider sat any where close to the front. Lemoine held 11th, and Klatt was 17th making the mood a little different compared to previous races. Nevertheless, Matt immediately started doing a timing section that only a select few tried, which helped bring him to 8th briefly. Meanwhile Klatt searched to find a pace to climb up, on lap ten he reached his highest logging in at 15th. At the same time, Lemoine battled between 9th and 11th until the checkered flag, only to miss the top ten by one spot.

This weekend the series heads north to San Francisco, where the weather is questionable as it is every year. With the team stopping off at Castillo ranch later in the week for a change of scenery we hope both riders show up refreshed and put in strong showings.
