Press Release

Setback for Michael Leib

As many of you know Michael broke his leg a few days before leaving for Texas in March causing him to also miss the World Mini in Vegas. He was released two weeks ago to ride but was experiencing swelling and thought it best to wait. He decided last Monday to head out to Starwest, a small novice level track, to see how the leg felt. He came up short on a small jump and felt something pop in his shoulder. Straight to Dr. Alexander we went. After an MRI the following day we learned that Michael tore a ligament in his left shoulder. The injury is called a Bankart Lesion and is best treated with arthroscopic surgery. The procedure will be performed Tuesday May 1st by Dr. Alexander. Healing will take two to three months. Michael was looking forward to Ponca, Loretta’s and the rest of the year. “The doctor can’t explain why this happened without even falling but I know that I am more determined than ever to get back to riding and racing. I plan on being ready for Branson and the Winter Olympics in Florida and want to let my sponsors all know that I appreciate their support. I will be back stronger than ever.” Michael’s rehabilitation will be monitored by Dr. Navarro and physical therapy will be conducted at Evolution Fitness in Temecula.
