Sears Centre, Riders And Fans Are Ready

FORT WORTH, TX (JANUARY 10, 2007) – Riders and fans are gearing up for the BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series to be held at the all new Sears Centre near Chicago this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Sears Centre which opened in October of 2006 has been experiencing huge success with events such as concerts, soccer, hockey, and Lacrosse, however no “dirt” event has been held at the new facility. Now for the first time ever, more than 200 truck loads of dirt will be dumped on the arena floor to create a man-made indoor motocross track that will consist of double and triple jumps, huge berms and bone-jarring whoop-de-doos.

Factory support teams and top privateers from across the country will tackle the high-flying extreme sport of Arenacross. Heading the list of riders is current BooKoo Arenacross Series point leader, Darcy Lange riding the Babbitt’s Monster Kawasaki. “Our team is prepared and ready,” said Lange. “We want to win races and pad our point lead.”

Jeff Northrop also riding for the Babbitt’s Monster Kawasaki team is expected to return this weekend in Chicago. Northrop was injured at the Yakima, Washington round and now feels ready to return. Northrop said, “I feel fine now, but I know I will be sore when racing. If I am in a position to win, I will go for it! If not, I will just collect some points and move-on to Fort Wayne next weekend.”

“Let’s keep the momentum going,” said fifteen year old sensation, Tyler Bowers on the MDK Honda. Bowers just moved into third in the point standings by taking a win last weekend in Reading, Pennsylvania added, “Our team is strong and we are having fun. Right now it’s one race at a time.”

Shane Schaefer, manager of the BooKoo Arenacross Series for Mike Kidd Entertainment Group has been at the Sears Centre all week preparing for this weekend event. Shane was there when the first truck load of dirt was dumped and said, “This was like dumping dirt in your living room floor. We have been both excited and nervous, however this has been one of the best move-ins I have been involved with over the past 8 years. The dirt is some of the best we have seen for an Arenacross and that will allows to build a track that the riders and fans can both enjoy.”

Dan Guza, Director of Ticketing for the Sears Centre said, “Originally the promoter only wanted the bottom bowl opened. However ticket sales have exceeded everyone’s expectations so we have now opened the entire arena for ticket sales.”

Advance Reserved Discount Tickets are now on-sale at the Sears Centre Box Office, select AMCORE Banks, phone (888) SEARSTIX or go online at www.searscentre.com . Local residents can also purchase tickets at Schaumburg Honda in Schaumburg, IL or Liberty Cycles Warehouse in Libertyville, IL.

Fans can come early Friday and Saturday night with a track walk and autograph session beginning at 6:30pm with professional racing at 7:30pm. More than 500 youth and amateur riders are expected to compete on Sunday, with main events at 2pm.
