Press Release

Ryan Villopoto Collects 450 Title

In April 2010, Ryan Villopoto suffered a devastating leg injury that
would have left others permanently on the sidelines.  Villopoto has not
only bounced back, but he has climbed back to the top of the sport of
motocross.

Last weekend at Pala Raceway, just outside of San Diego, Calif., for the 12th
and final round of the 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship,
the Monster Energy Kawasaki and Thor rider captured the 450 National
Championship.  The title is Villopoto’s second of the season (2011
Monster Energy AMA Supercross Champion) and the sixth of his
professional career.  With the Outdoor National and Supercross titles
officially in his possession, Villopoto is now just the 12th person in history to win both major titles in one season.

Villopoto will now turn his attention towards the Monster Energy FIM
Motocross of Nations in Saint Jean d'Angély, France on September 17-18.
Congratulations go out to Ryan Villopoto on a phenomenal season, and
best wishes next weekend in France.

In the 250 class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson put
a stamp on his 2011 Championship season with a dominating 1-1
performance.  Wilson closes out the season on a high note, and will also
head to France next week as a member of the Great Britain team.

Wilson’s teammate, Blake Baggett, also finished on the overall podium
when the final checkered flag flew, finishing in third place for the
series.  Baggett demonstrated the ability to run out front on a regular
basis throughout the outdoor schedule, and that ability is why he has
been chosen as the MX2 representative for Team USA next weekend at the
MXoN. Congratulations on a great season, Blake!
