Steve Ramon took part in Round 9 of
the MX1 Motocross World Championship held in Teutschenthal, Germany, this
past weekend. The event witnessed the largest crowds of the calendar this
season, as 40 000 fans lined the rough and technical circuit.
In moto 1 Ramon was quick out the
gate and headed through the opening section just inside the top 10 as all
the riders jockeyed for track position. The Belgian had a good pace but a
series of small mistakes on dropped him down a few positions. Once settled
into his rhythm, Ramon was able to move past Simpson into 10th,
which he held to the finish.
Moto 2 proved to be another tough
race as an early crash put Ramon down to 14th in the early
stages. Fighting for every possible point Ramon raced hard to get back to
9th position at the finish, awarding him 10th overall
for the event.
Steve Ramon: "Not much luck today.
I had a pretty good start in the first moto but I made two mistakes on the
first lap and some guys passed me. I wasn't riding well today and didn't
have the power to push. It was tough. The second moto was about a bad
start, a crash, pushing to recover and then making mistakes! I crashed
together with Schiffer and from that point I just tried to get as many
points as possible. Of course I'm not happy but I did what I
could."
Round 10 of the 15 round series
takes place in Latvia this coming weekend.
