Four Days Until Motocross Goes PINK

Steel City Motocross Finale to Host the Race to Cure Breast Cancer


MORGANTOWN, W.V. (September 1, 2009) - This weekend in Steel City marks not only the finale of one of the finest motocross seasons in history, but a weekend of hope in the race to cure breast cancer. The Steel City event will go PINK for all the lost, survivors and those who are currently in need.


"This is a milestone for American Women's Motocross," commented Carrie Coombs, Vice President and CFO of MX Sports. "This is the first year that women have been fully incorporated into the AMA Pro Motocross Championships. To celebrate their accomplishment, we want to recognize a very important issue to women all over the country - breast cancer.


"To show their support for not only their fellow athletes, but for all women in general, our pro athletes, both men and women, will express their support for this cause this weekend at the Steel City National Pink Race - the first ever professional motocross race dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer."


An entire weekend of fundraising will be held including the inaugural Mystery Rider Auction. Ryan Dungey, Andrew Short, Ryan Villopoto and Ashley Fiolek have stepped up far greater than originally expected donating priceless personal items and committing to match the sale price of their item up to $1000. These items are sure to tremendous hit for all fans. The auction is scheduled to take place at the tower during intermission between the first and second motos. Items will be revealed shortly before the auction begins.


In addition to the intermission auction, a day of activities in support for the cure will be held. Fans will have the opportunity to win exclusive raffle items from Lucas Oil, Monster, Scott USA, FMF, Kawasaki, No Fear, Pro Circuit, Spy, DVS, Red Bull, Von Zipper, Joe Gibbs Racing, Makita, Motorose.com, Cycle News, Applied Racing, Pro Armor, Maier USA, Troy Lee Designs, Shock Doctor, Utopia, AMA Pro Racing Merchandise, Asterisk, Dunlop, Racer X, Carl Stone and many more. In addition to the industry, riders such as Davi Millsaps, Sherri Cruise, Jessica Patterson and more have generously donated autographed memorabilia.


All items will be displayed at the Breast Cancer Awareness booth in the Sponsor Village. Winners will be announced prior to the final moto of the day. Fans that visit the Breast Cancer Awareness wearing PINK (clothing) will be awarded one free raffle ticket. Also during their visit to the booth fans may pick up a limited edition Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Bracelet, get a temporary tattoo and much more all in support in the race for the cure.


All proceeds from the fundraiser support the Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-day Walk which is a 60-mile walk to raise money for breast cancer. The net proceeds will support the combined efforts of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust (NPT) Breast Cancer Fund in their mission to fund access to care and a cure for breast cancer.
