Pirelli-Backed Sorby Stays Consistent at Monster Energy Supercross Inside Texas Stadium

Rome, Ga. – Once again it was Moto XXX/Hooters Eric Sorby, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., that earned top honors for Team Pirelli at the Monster Energy® Supercross race held inside Texas Stadium. Bud Select Honda’s Billy Payne, of Simi Valley, Calif., was Pirelli’s top AMA Supercross Lites class rider finishing 10th overall.

Sorby, who is currently 15th overall in AMA Supercross class standings, transferred to the main event by finishing sixth in his qualifier. The next three positions in AMA Supercross class racing were taken by Pirelli-backed riders Dusty Klatt, Antonio Balbi and Jeff Gibson. Klatt, of Riverside, Calif., earned a season-best sixth-place in his heat race, finished 16th overall while Balbi and Gibson finished 17th and 18th respectively.

“It’s great to see guys like Sorby stay consistent,” said Josh Whitmire, Pirelli MX Manager. “He has done a great job in the last few weeks, and we are looking forward to this race this weekend in Detroit.”

In the Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Lites championship Payne is now in ninth place in season standings. Justin Sipes, of Vine Grove, Ken., finished 14th, Kawasaki’s Robert Castro, of Columbiana, Ala., finished 15th, Kawasaki’s Justin Buckelew, of Sunrise, Ariz., and Jimmy Albertson, of Ozark, Mo., finished 21st.
