It Is Not Just The Motorcycle Industry That Is Hiring

Maybe you have seen the gradual upward trending of the employment figures? Even the pessimists will admit the bleeding has stopped and we are no longer hemorrhaging jobs. Independent economists are cautiously optimistic, while the Federal Government claims a record number of "Help Wanted" ads was posted in July. That should be good news for your business… more people with jobs means more discretionary dollars to spend in the motorcycle market, right?

According to the United States Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, "employment grew in professional and business services, manufacturing, retail trade, and construction" fields. Interestingly the demographics of people going back to work match the demographic profile of those who buy powersports products. "In July, retail trade employment rose by 27,000. Employment continued to trend up in automobile dealers, food and beverage stores, and general merchandise stores. Over the past year, retail trade has added 298,000 jobs," notes the Bureau of Labor Statistics. "Employment in construction increased by 22,000 in July. Within the industry, employment continued to trend up in residential building and in residential specialty trade contractors. Over the year, construction has added 211,000 jobs."

The good new is that people are returning to work. The bad news is that you need to step up your game if you want to expand your business and capture your fair share of the returning customer base. The BLS has indicated that more firms are hiring than any time since 2008, a fact echoed by the industry specific traffic Motorcycle Industry Jobs.com has experienced.
