MotoSport.com/TiLUBE/Foremost Insurance SX Round 13 Race Report

RIVERSIDE,
Calif. (April 2, 2012) – In Houston this past weekend, a perfect spring
day provided the ideal setting for 48,962 Supercross fans to come out
and enjoy the
Monster Energy AMA Supercross series pit party and an exciting night of racing.

The MotoSport.com/TiLUBE/Foremost Insurance Rider Justin Sipes qualified well into the evening’s racing in 17thposition. By vurtue of his 17th place position he would be placed into the second of two Supercross class heat races.

As
the 20 riders lined up for the heat race Sipes chose a gate towards the
far inside that he felt would give him the best chance to grab the
holeshot. The gate dropped and the riders charged into the first turn
with Sipes emerging in the middle of the pack. After making some quick
and valuable passes on the first two laps he moved into a qualifying
position. On lap three, Mike Alessi would make a charge and attempt to
pass Sipes but would go down in the process. That left Sipes with a
comfortable lead over 10th place
before disaster struck. Nearing the end of a long whoop section Sipes
lost control of his motorcyle and went down hard. He would be down for
almost three minutes before being able to remount his motorcycle and
ride unassisted back to the MotoSport.com/TiLUBE/ForemostInsurance team trasporter for some much needed repairs before the LCQ race.

Unforutnatly
Sipes was left with the final gate pick in the LCQ, forcing him to
lineup on the far outside. He charged into the first turn with as much
speed and agression as possible and came out with another mid-pack
start. Despite his best efforts, the short, six-lap race would not allow
Sipes enough time to move into qualifying position and he would cross
the finish line in ninth place, signaling an end to his evening.

“I
crashed hard in the whoops,” said a visibly disappointed Sipes
following the race. “I stayed down for a few minutes because my ribs
took a hard hit and I was having trouble breathing. Fortunately, I was
able to get up and ride my motorcycle back to the truck where the guys
got it all rebuilt and ready for the LCQ. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to
make it into the main, but I’m going to continue working on my starts
and will be prepared to rip some holeshots at the next round in New
Orleans.”

The
Monster Energy AMA Supercross series will take this weekend off for the
Easter holiday and will then be back in action for the 14th round of racing from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La. on April 14. Be sure to stop by the MotoSport.com/TiLUBE/Foremost Insurance
Team truck to show your support and to have your picture taken with
Nick Wey, Chris Blose, and Justin Sipes from 12:30 pm – 5:30 pm.  See
you there!
