Moss Wins Australasian Supercross Championship

Team Suzuki Press Office - November 16.

Team Rockstar Motul Suzuki star Matt Moss has successfully defended his Australasian Super X Lites Championship with another emphatic victory at Parramatta Stadium, Sydney at the weekend.

Five wins from as many rounds has resulted in the young charger claiming the title with one round to spare, an achievement identical to that of his maiden 2008 championship victory.

It has also been an equally-impressive performance for Suzuki's all-new fuel injected 2010 model RM-Z250 in its debut race season. Arriving less than a week before the first round, Moss and Team Manager Jay Foreman made a last minute decision to race the new model.

"We had last year's model ready to go and I knew it was a winning machine," said Moss. "But we got an early shipment of two 2010 bikes, like a week before the first round. I pretty much did three laps, pulled in and said: 'Jay this is what we are going to race.' We put in some suspension, went racing and won that first round."

That first round win at Launceston has been followed by wins at Geelong, Perth, Canberra and Parramatta, giving Moss and the fuel-injected 2010 model RM-Z250 a perfect racing record in its debut season.

Five-time 500cc Motocross World Champion Roger De Coster has now signed Moss to Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki for the 2010 AMA season. Moss will follow in the footsteps of past champions Ricky Carmichael and Chad Reed riding an RM-Z450 for the championship-winning Suzuki Factory Team.

Matt Moss:

"That was fantastic; I'm just so pumped to wrap up the title tonight. I've got a great crew in the Team Rockstar Motul Suzuki garage; a great bike in the new fuel-injected Suzuki RM-Z250 and a great team manager and mentor in Jay Foreman."

Jay Foreman - Team Manager:

"It's been a fantastic season so far and a great debut for the new RM-Z250. I knew as soon as Matt rode the new bike that we had a race weapon and securing the Championship with one round to spare proves it."
