Moose Racing - On The Podium

The second round of the 2011 AMA
Arenacross series was held last weekend inside Kemper Arena in Kansas
City. The Babbitt’s Monster TiLUBE Kawasaki presented by Maxxis Tire
squad wasted no time getting back out front as Chad Johnson and Tyler
Bowers earned wins in their respective heat races. The third member of
the team, Gray Davenport also started off strong with a close second
place finish to Bowers in the second qualifying race.

When
the gate dropped for the main event, it was Bowers out front again with
the holeshot and the early lead. Bowers was set to take his first win
of the young season until a mistake on lap 15 saw him hit the ground.
He would remount and finish in the fourth position.

“I pulled
a holeshot in the main and led for over half the race,” said Bowers.
“But then I just lost the front end near the finish line; I got back
up, and made a few more mistakes.  But it’s okay; I’m just going to
keep moving forward with what’s been working, and looking forward to
the next round”

Bowers’ teammate, Chad Johnson would put in a
solid ride working his way up from a sixth place start to earn the
final spot on the podium at the checkered flag.

“Yeah, my
start was okay,” said Johnson. “I was about sixth and just tried to put
my head down and push forward.  I focused on being both strong and
fast, and then moved into third by the finish.”

After two
rounds, the teammates are tied for second place in the overall points
standings with the series heading to Dayton, Ohio, and the Ervin J.
Nutter Center next weekend for another action packed Saturday night of
racing!

In other Moose Racing news, we are happy to welcome up
and coming GNCC star, Josh Weisenfels to the team. Weisenfels joins
defending XC1 class champion and fellow Moose Racing rider, Josh Strang
aboard the Factory Suzuki off-road team. He will be contesting the GNCC
series in the XC2 class and like Strang, will be under the watchful eye
of off-road legend, Rodney Smith.
