Monster Energy/Thor/Leading Edge Kawasaki at Walton

Maier takes third in the Championship

Kamloops, BC (Aug 19, 2008) The 2008 CMRC National Motocross series reached it's finale last weekend as the Monster Energy/Thor/Leading Edge Kawasaki team found themselves at the Walton motocross track in Walton, Ontario. After a hard fought series the Leading Edge team was able to put a Kawasaki on the overall series podium with a well deserved second place finish for the day and third overall in the series for Teddy Maier.

For Iowa's Maier, after a season of triumph and tragedy he was happy to cap things off with a second place finish. "The season definitely had it's ups and downs for me", said Maier. "It was awesome to start it off with a win at the first round at Ste. Julie and I really felt like I was the favorite for the title. When I hurt my ankle and was unable to race Regina I thought things were over so to come back and podium four of the five races after my return and get third in the Championship is great. Next year I hope to come back to Canada with the Leading Edge team and capture the title."

William's Lake BC's Brock Hoyer had another solid race, though his results fell short of his own expectations. Hoyer would end up finishing ?-? For ?overall. " I really expected to do well today," said Hoyer. "I've raced here in the past and had one of my best races as a pro rider. I just struggled with starts both motos and had to work my way through the pack. Thankfully my Kawasaki has a ton of power so it made the job a lot easier." Hoyer had this to say about the team: "This year has been a dream come true for me. To be able to fly into the races and race a great bike has been a dream of mine my whole life and I can't thank Jason Hughes enough for this opportunity. Everyone at Leading Edge have been great and I hope I can return next year and keep the momentum going."

The entire Leading Edge team would like to give a huge thanks to all their 2008 sponsors. For a first year effort it wouldn't have been possible without all of you. Now the team looks ahead to the Montreal Supercross, where Brock Hoyer will be contesting the MX2 class and also look for the team this winter as they contest the British Columbia based Nex-Trax arenacross series.
