Monster Energy/Thor/Leading Edge Kawasaki Kicks Off Canadian Arenacross Series

Kamloops, BC (Nov 9, 2008) This weekend saw the opening round of the Nex-Trax Canadian Arenacross series invade the Heritage Center in Chilliwack, British Columbia and the Monster Energy/Thor/Leading Edge Kawasaki was primed to make a big splash. The team fielded a three rider squad, consisting of team captain, Teddy Maier, of Fort Dodge, Iowa and British Columbia natives Brock Hoyer and Kris Foster.

Maier, a veteran of the AMA Arenacross series, was a contender from the moment he hit the track. Despite a track that put starts at a premium, Maier put on a series of impressive come from behind charges, winning one main event and finishing second in the other three. Said Maier of his weekend, "I felt really good out there and expected to win every time I went to the line. Kyle Beaton was riding really well and on a track like this starts were the difference. I'm going to work on my starts this week and come out next weekend ready to put my Kawasaki back on the top of the box."

Brock Hoyer, a regular competitor in the Canadian Arenacross series had a solid weekend with a best finish of a fourth during Friday's Open main and backed it up with a pair of fifth's during Saturday night's action. The results may not have been a true indication of the speed he displayed though, as a few mistakes kept him off of the podium but he gave a good show of it both nights when he eliminated his teammate Maier in the Head to Head racing part of the program and came inches from taking the final round win over Beaton on Saturday night. Hoyer will certainly be in the podium hunt next weekend when the series returns to Chilliwack for rounds three and four.

Leading Edge also had a third rider this weekend, Kris Foster, who was making a return to the team after a year away. Foster, a long time Leading Edge Kawasaki supported rider has rejoined the team in a regional capacity and with only a day to adapt to his new ride posted a best finish of a fifth in Friday's Lites main event.

The team will be back in action next weekend as the series moves on to rounds three and four at the Chilliwack Heritage Center. For more info about the Nex-Trax Canadian Arenacross series check out
