Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Looks to Return to the Top in San Diego

Corona, Calif. (February 3, 2010) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki is preparing for the penultimate round in California as the Western Region of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Lites Series heads to Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif. on Saturday. Jake Weimer and Josh Hansen have been putting in laps on the practice track and are both poised to step up on to the podium Saturday night.

Weimer has already enjoyed an incredible run this season, winning the first three races and finishing second last weekend in San Francisco. The 22-year-old rider holds a 16-point edge in the championship standings and is looking to take advantage of the technical layout this weekend.

“The San Diego track is usually a little more technical than most,” said Weimer. “That works to my advantage because it helps separate the riders. Plus I’m going down there with a little bit of motivation because I want to go win again. I’m going to go to San Diego and get what I want.”

Weimer isn’t the only Pro Circuit rider looking to stand on the top step of the podium as Hansen is hoping he can parlay his recent heat race success into a main event payday. Hanny has won two of his last three heats and also has claimed the holeshot in two of the last three main events.

“I’m excited about San Diego,” said Hansen. “I want to win and I don’t want anything else. I’m going to work on a few little things, and I think it is all going to come around soon.”

The race in San Diego is the fifth of eight for the riders competing for the AMA Supercross Lites Western Region championship. Weimer currently leads the points standings with Hansen sitting in seventh position.
