Mammoth, Calif. (June 28, 2015) Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green came out swinging in the second half of the 2015 Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross event. After three days of 250 and 450 racing, Team Greens Austin Forkner took home two championships in the Schoolboy 2 and 250B/C classes, while his teammates Mark Worth, Darian Sanayei, Jordan Bailey and Mitchell Harrison all finished within the top ten all three days.
The Young Gun
Forkner came into Mammoth with a lot of confidence and was looking to build on it as he lined up on the concrete starting gate. He set the bar high on day one with a blistering pace that was unmatchable in the Schoolboy 2 class, winning both his qualifier and the main. On day two the elements of rocky Mammoth mountain struck Forkner as he hit a rock on the face of a jump, causing him to crash, and forcing him to DNF. Austin would bounce back on day three with vengeance, holeshotting his qualifier in the 250 B/C class and walking away with the win in the main to take home championship number two for him and number four for Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green.

Marky Mark
Worth took on the best of the best as he raced the Open Pro classes all three days. Worth would do nothing but impress as he finished second overall on day one. The second day would continue to cause problems for Team Green as Worth would crash late in Moto 1 and cross the line in fifth. Nevertheless, Worth would make up for the crash in Moto 2 as he would get off to a great start, grabbing the holeshot and never looking back to win the second Moto in the 250 Open Pro class, going 5-1 for second overall. Day three was much of the same for Worth as he would finish an impressive second overall on the day in the 450 Open Pro class, going 2-2.

Progression
Sanayei came into Mammoth with an illness that he would fight all week, but would refuse to show it on the track, throughout the event. Sanayei would struggle at first, crashing on day one in the Open Pro class, finishing 25th, but he didn’t see his performance as negative, but rather a stepping stone on what to improve upon throughout the next two days of racing. Sanayei would do just that as he rode to an impressive 4-4 on day two for fourth overall in the 250 Open Pro class and would carry that momentum into day three as he would race the 450 Open Pro class. Sanayei kicked day three off with a qualifier win for Team Green, after battling his way up to the front in dominating fashion and finishing the final day on the podium in third place in the main, resulting in a third overall.
Consistency
Bailey rode strong and consistent all week, qualifying second in Schoolboy two and following it up with a fourth in the main on day one. On day two, Bailey kept it on two wheels on one of the roughest and hottest days of the week, to finish a solid fifth overall in the 250 B class. Bailey would race the Open B/C class on day three and follow up his previous performance with another fifth overall.
Driven
Little mistakes this week held Harrison back from reaching the podium. Day one was Harrison’s best performance, qualifying fourth in the Open Pro class and following it up with another fourth overall in the main. Unfortunately, after getting a great start on day two in Moto 1, Harrison would hit the ground and fall back to finish eight, which he never fully bounced back from, as he would finish Moto 2 in sixth. Moto 1 on day three saw Harrison and another rider collide on the track causing the both of them to go down and Harrison to injure his hand. Harrison, did not give up, as he would wrap up his hand and go back out for Moto 2 finishing within the top 10 in the 450 Open Pro class and seventh overall.
The Hills
Due to a water drought in California, water has become sparse and limited, causing the track this week to become a dust bowl at times and incredibly rough. Add in the heat and humidity and it made for a very long week for these racers and their mechanics.
The Road to Loretta’s
As the clock ticks down till the gate drops at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, training is in full force for the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green as they prepare for the most prestigious race in amateur motocross.
