The legendary King of Supercross, Jeremy "Showtime" McGrath will make a special appearance at Angels Stadium this weekend, as round 3 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series gets underway.
For the first time ever, Jeremy will be wearing a Troy Lee Designs SE-2 helmet, designed and painted just for him by Troy Lee. Jeremy has been a close friend of Troy for many years, and has worn some of the most amazing helmet designs throughout the course of his career.
"As a kid, the way I looked at it, was if you got Troy Lee to do your helmets, you were the sh*t!", says McGrath, whose retro helmet collection rivals that of Greg Primm, and even Troy himself.
Although Jeremy's future mostly involves late model car racing, the two wheel star still works with Team Honda to train and mentor younger racing talent. In addition, Jeremy periodically makes special appearances at supercross and supermoto events, even going so far as to hold his own invitational supercross-style race in October of 2006.
Jeremy's experience on and off the track will also be extremely valuable to the design team at Troy Lee Designs, as they work to continue developing the best helmets and protective gear available on the market.
"We are really excited to bring Jeremy on board," says Troy Lee. "He's always been a great friend, and a racing icon. We'll be stoked to see him wearing the SE-2 at Anaheim, and we've got big plans for him in the future."
Watch for McGrath's special guest appearance at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, CA this Saturday night. Live Nation has dubbed the event "Throwback Night", a nod to the 80's era of supercross racing, featuring special guests Rick Johnson, David Bailey, Jeff Ward, and many more.
