Marmont breaks through for first MX Nationals win of season 2011

Defending
three-time Australian Motocross Champion Jay Marmont is celebrating his
first victory of the 2011 Rockstar Energy MX Nationals season after a
triumphant day at Coonabarabran in New South Wales on Sunday, 19 June.

Marmont, 28, has been in stunning form this month while on a
national road trip, winning Western Australia’s Manjimup 15,000, the
Queensland state titles and now the sixth round of the MX Nationals on
consecutive weekends.

The CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha team
rider scored 5-1-2-3 results at the all-new Goanna Tracks Complex, which
was enough to capture the overall by one point from series leader Dean
Ferris.

“I’m stoked to win because the team and I
have put in a big effort lately trying to get back up the front,” the
Wollongong resident explained.

“I haven’t been home
for three weeks – I’ve been living on the road trying to do
what I can to get back up front in the series.

"To walk away
with the win is very rewarding for myself and also for CDR Rockstar Energy
Yamaha.”

Marmont is now 54 points in arrears of Ferris
with three rounds remaining in the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals,
focused on coming home strong when the season wraps up next month.

The series will continue at Albury in New South Wales on Sunday, 3
July.
