Marc de Reuver in the top ten at Starcross in Mantova

 

Marc de Reuver of the Lanes Kawasaki Team
finished inside of the top ten at the famous Starcross in Mantova, Italy. De
Reuver finished twice in eight position but crashed out of the last moto of the
day. Despite his dnf he finished ninth overall.

 

After a bad shoulder injury at the end of 2011
the Starcross in Mantova was his first race since a period of six months. Marc
was enthusiastic to ride and started the weekend with a good free practice
session. Things were going well for Marc and in time practice he managed to put
a decent lap together to end the session in sixth position.

 

In the qualifying heat he took a not so good
start and started the race just outside of the top ten. Marc took his time to
get the right rhythm and started to put the pressure on the riders in front of
him. Marc was riding some good lines and managed to pass several riders during
the race. In the second part of the race he got some arm pump and decided to
take no risks anymore and settled for seventh position.

 

At the end of the day Marc had to ride the
superpole. This competition goes over one lap. Marc gave everything to put a
fast lap together and finally set the fourth fastest time in the MX1 class.

 

On Sunday he had to ride three motos of twenty
minutes and two laps. In the first moto he started around tenth position. In the
beginning of the race it was difficult to pass because a lot of riders were
riding the same pace. Despite this he managed to work himself up to ninth
position. Soon after he passed the rider in front of him and moved up to eight
position. At that moment Kevin Strijbos had already a small gap and because Marc
had a little bit of arm pump he couldn't close down the gap and had to be
satisfied with eight position.

 

In the second moto he took a poor start and came
out of the first corner in the middle of the field. Marc started a charge back
through the field and within a few laps he worked himself back up to ninth
position. In the closing stages of the race Anthony Boissiere crashed and gave
his spot to Marc. After a well ridden race Marc crossed the finish line in eight
position.

 

In the third moto he took a really good start and
came out of the first lap in third position. Unfortunately he lost control over
his Kawasaki and crashed in the second lap. Because his handlebars were bent he
was forced to retire from the race.

 

Overall he finished in ninth position. Next
weekend Marc will participate in the international race in Hawkstone Park, Great
Britain.
