This past weekend marked the first
round of the Florida Winter Ams Championships and also the first
event attended by MXRanking. Because of technical
difficulties, we were unable to have the ‘Pit Presence’ we wanted
for Gatorback and had to make do without the new MXRanking RV.
Regardless, the first event was a success and we were happy to be
there supporting Gatorback and the racers.
As membership grows, we will be unable
to spotlight every rider, but because this was our first event we
can.
With 32 motos being run each day, the
schedule was full. The weather cooperated Saturday with sunny skies
and temperatures very close to 80 degrees F. Sunday began sunny but
the weather gradually deteriorated until the final two races were run
in a downpour.
Several MXRanking members made the trip
to the 40th Annual Winter Am Races at Gatorback and here
is how they did:
#41 Eve Brodeur is only 11 years
old and raced two classes at Gatorback. She comes from Laval Quebec
Canada and was involved in one of the best races of the day in the
second moto of the Girls (9-11) Class.
Girls (9-11): 1-1 1st
85 (9-11): 17-17 15th
Eve’s father, Sylvain Brodeur,
raced a couple classes as well and was in the mix with some fast
riders in the 40+ and Open Vet Classes.
Open Vet: 28-13 18th
40+: 8-5 5th
The Brodeur Family was traveling with
another Quebec family, The Paquettes from Blainville, and #54 Vanessa
Paquette competed in two classes including the newly-formed 250 D
Class.
Women’s 12+: 12-10 10th
250 D: 12-9 10th
#405 is Ontario Canada’s Rylan
Foster. He competed in two very competitive classes at Gatorback:
Open B and Four Stroke.
Open B: 19-16 19th
Four Stroke: 17-17 18th
#26 Edson Alberta’s/Albany Georgia’s
Cole Varty was also involved in some of the most exciting
races of the day. He and #12 Colton Ford battled wheel-to-wheel in
the second moto of the Youth (12-16) Class. Cole looks to be enjoying
his new 4-stroke Honda. A stall while closing in on the leaders in
the second Schoolboy moto cost Varty a chance at the class win after
winning the first moto convincingly.
Schoolboy (14-16): 1-12 5th
Youth (12-16): 3-1 2nd
I didn’t get a stopwatch on his lap
times, but I’m fairly certain #16/19 Brigden Ontario Canada’s
Cole Thompson put in some of the fastest laps of the weekend.
The family is strongly behind MXRanking and we appreciate all their
help getting the word out! Cole went virtually unchallenged all
weekend but kept things interesting by dumping his bike in a muddy
corner in one moto.
250 Open: 1-1 1st
Open B: 1-1 1st
MXRanking also had a member in the Pro
Class. #210 is Pennsylvania’s Casey Clark. Casey swept the
25+ Class and battled hard in the two other classes he entered. Watch
for him to be up near the front all series long!
25+: 1-1 1st
Open A: 5-2 3rd
Open Pro: 9-4 4th
It was great to meet Debbie and Wynn
from Gatorback as well as Randy Yoho from Dade City. We will be in
attendance this coming weekend (and the rest of the series) with our
MXRanking.com motorhome so please be sure to come by to say hello and
check out what we have to offer.
See you at the races!
