HOLICE (CZECH REPUBLIC), 6 June 2009 – Alex Salvini (Husqvarna), Christophe Charlier (Yamaha) and Aleksandr Tonkov (Suzuki) were heroes of the Saturday's Qualifying day in Holice, Czech Republic.
Tomorrow Holice will host the first Czech event for the FIM MX3 World Championship and EMX2 European Championship. The weather was on the limit all the day, it was very cloudy and cold. But riders and the organizer were lucky. It has started to rain as soon as the last Qualifying Practice was over.
MX3
Italian rider Alex Salvini took the pole position again. He made the best lap time in the third attempt and after he was only waiting if somebody will beat his time. Salvini confirmed the excellent preparation of his Husqvarna bike. As also his teammate Christophe Martin (France) finished top three, the Italian team Husqvarna Tecno B is looking forward for tomorrow's race. Second fastest time was made by Russian KTM rider Sergey Astaikin. This is a big success for rider of the JM Racing Team, who has never been so fast in the Qualifying Practice. The MX3 Qualifying Classification was very mixed this time. Gregory Wicht (Honda, Switzerland) finished fourt, Antti Pyrhonen (Honda, Finland) was fifth. Pierre Alexandre Renet (Suzuki, France) finished sixth, while Championship leader Julien Vanni was not too content with the sixt fastest time.

Andrea Cervellin (Husqvarna, Italy) was leading the beginning of the Qualifying Race one, till Giacomo del Segato (Honda, Italy) and Aleksandr Tonkov (Suzuki, Russia) did not pass him. After a big fight the team Esta Suzuki rider Aleksandr Tonkov became the winner of the Qualifying Race one and took the EMX2 pole position. Del Segato was second and Cervellin third.
Championship leader Christophe Charlier (Yamaha, France) from the team Gariboldi Racing became the winner of the EMX2 Qualifying race two. His start was not very successful but in the continuation of the race he presented how the leader shoud ride. Martin Kohut from Slovakia was second and Filip Thuresson from Sweden was third.

The organizer was satisfied with the first day. Ladislav Exner, the head of the Czech motocross promoter Dita Moto Shop Scooter s.r.o. said: »This weekend we have the first MX3 and EMX2 event in Czech Republic. It is an honour to have all the best riders here in Holice. I see that riders like the race track and I am glad for that. I follow MX3 events already six years and if I compare that event with others I think it is perfect.« The only fear of the organizer for tomorrow's race is the weather. The event will start 12.25 with the first EMX2 race.
