MDK/Lucas Oil/Yamaha Wonder Warthog Interns Double the Fun at Anaheim III

Newbury Park, CA (February 5, 2007) For the second week in a row, Wonder Warthog Racing (WWR) placed both members of its WWR/DanaK Internship program into the Lites Main Event of the 2007 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series.

With near perfect weather and a challenging track, Chris Blose and Adam Chatfield rode themselves into contention against a stacked field at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

The race also marked the promotion of Darrell Saldana to Race Director and the debut of the new WWR Program Manager, Steve Bauer, who said, “We had our share of drama tonight and the team did a great job of dealing with some last-second repairs after Adam’s LCQ ride”.  Unfortunately, Chatfield’s radiator hose was burnt through by a smashed header pipe during a first turn pileup and he was unable to make the restart of the red-flagged event. “Our team is super motivated and we’ll keep improving each week”, added Bauer.

Several other team members came very close to joining them in the final races of the night.  Jacob Saylor, Andrew Guzman, and Ryan Grantom all came within one position of qualifying for their mains and Vernon McKiddie pulled a massive holeshot in the Lites Heat #1. The DeCal Works/P-LoK Hog Haven rider, who posted some low lap times during his qualifying practice, looked to be on the way to matching his 2007 main event debut of last weekend.  It was not to be, however, as the talented rider ran into some bad luck in the form of a take-out move by an overzealous rider.

“We were a hair away from having five guys in the main”, said Scott Kandel, Chief Altruistic Officer of WWR, adding “I know they’re all working hard and our goal of getting four or more riders in the main could be reached as soon as next weekend, in Houston”. The team has now placed six different riders in a total of ten main events.

All ten riders qualified for the night program.  The qualified rider roster this week included Antonio Balbi, Chris Blose, Ted Campbell, Charles Castloo, Adam Chatfield, Ryan Grantom, Ramon Guzman, Clay Higgins, Vernon McKiddie, and Jacob Saylor.

The next stop on the 2007 Hog Haven Tour will be Saturday, February 10th at Reliant Stadium in Houston.  Hog Haven apparel can be purchased at the LiveNation merchandise trailer in the pits or at www.smoothindustries.com. All WWR proceeds go towards funding their privateer support programs.  Drop in to visit the entire team at www.WonderWarthogRacing.com
