MDK KTM's Nick Wey Out for Indy

Murrieta, CA – MDK KTM Factory rider Nick Wey, who has been plagued by an unremitting case of pneumonia, decided it would be in his best interest to sit out the Indianapolis Supercross round this weekend.

Wey first felt signs of an impending illness before the Houston Supercross. He took action immediately by reporting to his doctor for the proper medications that would hopefully treat his cold. “When you train as much as we do in this sport and you are on the go as much as we are, it is almost impossible to fully recover from a cold,” reported Wey. He continued, “It started as a common cold which turned into bronchitis and has now expanded into pneumonia.”

MDK KTM Factory Team Manager, Steve Lamson, stated, “Nick’s health is most important right now. I believe he is doing the right thing by sitting out this weekend. This should allow him time to begin recovery and hopefully he will be feeling well enough to come back for Daytona.”

Wey, who currently sits 8th in the AMA Supercross Series points, commented, “I’m bummed that I can’t race this weekend, but I know my team and my fans understand it is for my best interest. I will do my best to recover quickly aiming to return in time for Daytona.”
