Lausitzring will host the MXGP Germany in 2013

LOMMEL (Belgium), 29 September 2012 – After the qualifying heats of the 2012 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, Youthstream’s President, Mr Giuseppe Luongo, was very pleased to announce that the modern venue of Lausitzring in Southern Brandenburg will host the 2013 MXGP of Germany using part of the existing road racing circuit facilities located in front of the grandstand.

The paddock will be distributed on a hard standing surface and all the teams, riders, media and spectators will be able to use the existing infrastructure during the whole MXGP of Germany in order to have the maximum comfort throughout the whole event.

Giuseppe Luongo explained: 'With the 2013 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations being held in Germany, Teutschenthal, we are delighted to have come to an agreement with Lausitzring for the FIM Motocross Grand Prix of Germany for 2013. Lausitzring is a venue which offers all the services and comforts we envisage for today's Motocross; traditional circuits are extremely important for the MXGP calendar, but infrastructure at these circuits are often fraught with complications. It fantastic to work with Bert Poensgen, CEO of EuroSpeedway, who has a fabulous career in motorcycling and I'm sure the organization will be world class.'

Bert Poensgen, CEO of EuroSpeedway, explained: ‘I know that people have waited a long time for such an event, and I am looking forward to make this wish come true now. Also for us it was a real heartfelt wish to get the German Round of the 2013 FIM Motocross World Championship to our racetrack because we possess a strong connection to MX sports. Undoubtedly, you need the traditional tracks, but with such highlights as we will see in 2013 at the Lausitzring, the brilliance of this kind of sports can be widened.’

Lausitzring – overview
The race track Lausitzring, situated in the south of Brandenburg between Berlin and Dresden, is one of the most modern circuits in Europe and one of only four permanent race tracks in Germany. It is built on the area of a former opencast mine. Today a big conveyor bridge, which is located next to the Lausitzring still brings the past of the complex in mind. In August 2010 the Lausitzring celebrated its 10th birthday.
